Here is an example of one of Dr Kevin Lee’s challenging complex primary (first time) case where there is severe deformity and loss of ligament support around the knee.
There are many reasons why knee replacements fail and require a revision (redo) surgery to relieve pain. If the first surgery was performed some time ago, the most common reason is wearing out of the plastic liner (the plastics that were put in many years ago are not as durable or smooth as the ones put in nowadays). If the surgery was performed recently, then some common reasons for failure are infection or technical errors related to the surgery. Here is an example of a revision knee replacement performed on a patient referred to Dr Kevin Lee in which there is failure and breakage of the implant.
