Patients are discharged from the medical facility and sent back home or can be assigned to a rehabilitation facility to assist them to regain their ability to walk again.

Hip Fracture Rehabilitation

Patients are encouraged to move out of bed on the very next day of the surgery with the aid of a physical therapist. The surgeon determines how much weight can be placed on the injured and this largely depends on the stability of the fracture. Patients might require 3-6 months to regain their pre-fall walking ability.

Medical Care

In some cases a blood transfusion could be required post surgery. Sometimes patients are placed on blood thinners to reduce the probability of developing blood clots (deep vein thrombosis).
