How many steps should people take every day for good health?
Studies have shown that active people have lower incidences of heart disease, obesity and Type 2 diabetes compared to those who are sedentary.
But how much exercise we need and how intense it should be to help us stay healthy?
A new study published shows that 4,500 steps per day can reduce the risk of premature mortality.
The data indicated that the women who participated in the study strolled rather than walked intensively. But intensity here did not matter in this study. Only the number of steps per day was associated with mortality, not the speed with which the women accumulated them.
